Our Team

Evan Beard

Founder

Evan Beard works closely with leading collectors, investors, and institutions around the world. He founded Evan Beard & Co. to be the leading art advisory firm operating at the cross section of art and finance. He has built a career building innovative art market institutions that have bridged art as a cultural and capital asset. Evan launched and built Bank of America’s global Art Finance & Advisory Group where he oversaw a $10 billion art-secured lending business, collector advisory, and museum services. Prior to that he led Deloitte Consulting’s Art & Finance Group. More recently Evan founded a leading secondary-market gallery.

Evan regularly regularly contributes to art market discussions on CNBC, PBS, podcasts and in documentaries such as The Lost Leonardo. He’s regularly appears in outlets such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Art News, Artsy, Financial Times and others on topics bridging art and business

Before joining the art market, Evan spent his early career as a U.S. Naval Intelligence Officer in Washington D.C. and the Middle East.

He took a Bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and Masters degrees from St. John’s College Annapolis and Oxford University in the U.K.

Mary Phelps

Senior Director

Mary Phelps has 20+ years of experience in collection management, curation, auction advisory, and appraisals. A foundational member of Gagosian Art Advisory, she advanced its commercial and advisory operations for nearly six years.

She previously served as Senior Curator at MacAndrews & Forbes Inc. and held roles at Sotheby's and Christie's specializing in valuations, consignments, and collection management.

Hannah Poss

Director

Hannah Poss joins Evan Beard & Co with 8+ years of experience in auction houses, galleries and museums. With prior experience at Sotheby's New York and Christie's New York, Hannah has direct experience executing auction consignments and private sale transactions, and is adept at cultivating client relationships and overseeing complex collection management.

A native of New York City, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and History from Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

Zeynep Uner

Associate

Zeynep Uner joins the firm with 3+ years of experience at the world’s largest art fund, where she conducted art market analysis, valuation research and managed data pipelines to support the valuation and acquisition of blue-chip artworks.

She holds a B.A. in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics with a minor in History of Art and Architecture from UC Santa Barbara.

Eliana Smith

Associate

After obtaining a Master’s degree in Contemporary English Literature and Art History at University College London, Eliana moved back to New York to pursue art advisory. Eliana joins Evan Beard & Co. following a formative internship at the Studio Museum in Harlem which deepened her engagement with Contemporary Art.
