Open Position
Director
New York, NY · Full-time · On-site
We are looking for a Director who can operate as a trusted deal-maker and advisor. You will manage client relationships, run transactions, and contribute meaningfully to the firm's sourcing and brokerage activity. This is a fully in-person role based at our Upper East Side office.
Responsibilities
Execute buy- and sell-side transactions across primarily the secondary market, with a focus on blue-chip Modern, Post-War, and Contemporary works
Source artworks through galleries, auction houses, private collections, estates, and distressed situations
Apply our three-tier acquisition framework — evaluating the artist, the opportunity, and the work — to every potential acquisition
Conduct internal market analysis and fair market value assessments to inform negotiating strategy
Manage the full deal process with our team’s support: price negotiation, due diligence, authentication and provenance research, legal coordination, logistics, and closing
Run competitive auction consignment bake-offs and negotiate guarantees and enhanced-hammer terms on behalf of clients
Structure and execute private treaty sales with full discretion
Produce polished client-facing materials: acquisition dossiers, factsheets, condition summaries, and collection reports
Support asset management mandates: collection inventory, appraisal coordination, and collection performance reporting
Qualifications
8–10+ years of experience in art dealing, advisory, auction, or private brokerage
Demonstrated track record with high-value blue-chip transactions
Deep familiarity with the auction ecosystem and private market channels
Strong working knowledge of appraisal methodology, authentication processes, and provenance research
Existing relationships with collectors, galleries, and auction specialists
Exceptional written and verbal communication — you can present a work, write a compelling dossier, and hold a room
Highly organized, discreet, and comfortable managing multiple transactions simultaneously
